Please read carefully:

A Work in Right-of-Way Permit relates to any activity that results in traffic disruption, including bins, materials and equipment blocking lanes, or the cutting, excavation, boring, filling, additions, or altering in any way, roadways, curbs, sidewalks, boulevards, ditches, trails, and other areas within the right-of-way. A traffic plan in compliance with the Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM), Book 7, Temporary Conditions for traffic plan instructions, may be required.

Additional Conditions and Comments

Please note that following the approval of your application, payment may become necessary. We are presently unable to process payments online. In the event that payment is indeed required, our staff will reach out to you to coordinate the payment process.

As a reminder, the permit fee stands at $56.50, inclusive of HST. Should a deposit be necessary, our staff will provide you with the relevant details. Below are the specifics concerning deposits for excavation purposes:

  • Excavation Deposit Required:
    • Up to and including 2m deep: $1,000
    • Over 2m up to and including 4m deep: $5,000
    • Over 4m up to and including 6m deep: $10,000
    • Over 6m deep: $15,000

It is important to note that all excavation deposits will be retained for a period of one (1) year following the completion of the works. These deposits will be refunded upon satisfactory inspection of the completed works. Furthermore, the repair of excavations must be executed promptly within five (5) working days from the time of notification by the City. Failure to adhere to this requirement will result in the forfeiture of the deposit.
